Syllable Segmentation is important for the development of a child’s sound awareness in words. A child that is able to recognise the syllables of a word will be better able to read and spell. As they become familiar with syllables they will begin to see syllable patterns in words (eg. giggle and wiggle both have the syllable ‘gle’)
