The Mardi Gras season that is celebrated in the United States, most notably in and around the city of New Orleans, begins on the Feast of the Epiphany, the 12th Night. Tradition has it that the Three Wise Men travelled for 12 days before coming to Bethlehem to find the baby Jesus.
