invention—the printing press. When Johann Gutenberg was a boy, his family helped run a mint. This was where metal coins were made. Perhaps young Johann learned to work with metal there. When he grew up, Gutenberg was making things from gold. In his spare time, he started working on a printing press. We don’t know exactly when or how this began.
